Saturday Bowl Recap: Big 12 Goes 3-0, Now 7-1 in Bowls
Another day, another Big 12 clean sweep. Lemme run through what happened.
Birmingham Bowl: West Virginia 31, South Carolina 27
The noon game nobody watched actually delivered entertainment.
Garrett Greene was Garrett Greene — scrambling around, making plays, keeping defenses guessing. Threw for 220 and ran for 75. WVU scored a touchdown with 2:30 left to take the lead, then the defense got a stop.
Pick results: WVU +3.5 ✅ Over 52 ✅
Pop-Tarts Bowl: Iowa State 24, Miami 21
IOWA STATE DID IT AGAIN.
Matt Campbell is a wizard. Miami was supposed to score 35 points. They scored 21. The Cyclones defense suffocated them.
The tempo control was masterful. Iowa State possessed the ball for 36 minutes. THIRTY-SIX MINUTES.
Iowa State’s now 11-3. Best season in program history.
Mike’s note: I told you. Iowa State unders and covers. Free money.
Pick results: Iowa State +6 ✅ (won outright!) Under 51 ✅
Alamo Bowl: BYU 23, LSU 20
BYU’s defense did what BYU’s defense does.
LSU was held to 20 points. Twenty. A team averaging 38 points per game all season scored 20. That’s the BYU defense experience.
Jake Retzlaff: 18-of-28, 187 yards, zero turnovers. Ball security won this game.
BYU finishes 12-2. Only losses to Tech and Iowa State.
Pick results: BYU +3.5 ✅ (won outright!) Under 49.5 ✅
